Response To The Meeting Between Puan And Jokowi In Bali, PDIP: That's The Face Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah responded to a meeting between President Joko Widodo and DPR Speaker Puan Maharani before the World Water Forum dinner at Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Badung, Bali, Sunday, May 19.

According to Said, Jokowi and Puan are a picture of Indonesia. Where even though it's different, it's still one.

"That's us, that's the face of Indonesia, one of whom is Mr. Jokowi as President of the Republic of Indonesia, one is Mrs. Puan Maharani as Chair of the DPR, like it or not, whether she likes any difference, but she is both our symbol together," said Said, Monday, May 20.

Said emphasized that the meeting between the president and the chairman of parliament was inevitable. He also welcomed the moment of familiarity between the two PDIP politicians.

"So the meeting between Pak Jokowi and Mbak Puan as Chair of the DPR is a necessity," he said.

Regarding whether or not there was a political discussion at the meeting, Said assessed that the two of them would definitely talk about the affairs of the nation.

"If that's the matter discussed, it must be a state matter, a period of other matters," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo welcomed the Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani before the World Water Forum dinner at Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Badung, Bali, Sunday, May 19. The two of them smiled when they met each other and then shook hands.

This meeting is the first time Jokowi and Puan have met since the end of 2023. It is known that Jokowi's relationship with PDI-P politicians had strained since the advancement of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election.

Even at the moment of Eid al-Fitr 2024, Jokowi also did not meet Puan and her mother, PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.
