Elon Musk Considers Investment In Indonesia After Starlink Implementation In Bali And Maluku

JAKARTA - CEO of Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, Elon Musk, expressed interest in investing in Indonesia after seeing the implementation of satellite-based internet services, Starlink, in Bali and Maluku.

"In the future, in the long term, my company will allow, very likely, to invest in Indonesia," said Elon Musk when met after watching the Showcase of Services by the Indonesian Ministry of Health in Denpasar, Bali, Sunday, May 19.

However, when asked if the investment was related to electric vehicles, Elon was reluctant to disclose it and said that he is currently focusing on the launch of Starlink in Indonesia. "We want to keep the news about it for another chance," Elon said.

Elon is very enthusiastic about bringing internet connectivity to various places in Indonesia, especially the 3T area (advantaged, frontier, and outermost). He emphasized that the internet connection can bring significant changes to society, especially in accessing health education and services. "The internet can even be a savior. When you can access the internet, you can learn a lot," said Elon.

Elon arrived at the Sumerta Kelod Assistant Health Center, Denpasar, Bali, at 16.45 WITA. Previously, he was scheduled to launch Starlink with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), but because he was unable to attend, the launch was carried out with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.

Elon has repeatedly emphasized the importance of internet connections for the entire region, so that everyone can access information from anywhere and anytime. "With the internet, apart from learning a lot, anyone can sell their goods and services from anywhere," added Elon.
