Basarnas Kaltim Tempuh 15 Hours Help Handling 35 Villages In Mahakam Ulu Flooded
The East Kalimantan National SAR Agency (Basarnas) sent a joint SAR team to assist in flood management that hit 35 villages spread over a number of sub-districts in Mahakam Ulu Regency. "The joint SAR team that has left today to Mahakam Ulu Regency is the Balikpapan SAR Office Rescue Team and Samarinda SAR Post. The travel length is estimated between 12-15 hours, so that tomorrow the team will arrive at the location," said Head of the East Kalimantan Basarnas Dody Setiawan in a release in Samarinda, Thursday. Floods in Mahakam Ulu began to occur on Monday, May 13, while the report that entered the East Kalimantan Basarnas was only this Thursday, so that his party immediately coordinated with all relevant parties as soon as they received the report and immediately dispatched the team to the location even though the distance was quite far, namely 337 km from Balikpapan. Based on information that his party collected on Monday, May 13 at around 08.30 WITA, there began a flood disaster in Mahakam Ulu due to the heavy overflow of the upstream part of the Mahakam River, which is sourced from the Long Apari River (Maharkam Ulu Regency) and the Boh River (North Malinau Regency - North Kalimantan). Residents' settlements in Mahakam Ulu affected by this flood with varying water levels, depending on the level of lowerness of the occupied location, so that some were only submerged by a few centimeters and some reached the roof of the house.

Based on temporary data, of the 50 villages in Mahakam Ulu Mahulu, 35 of them were flooded, namely 11 villages in Long Bagun District, including Long Bagun ilir Village, Batoq Kelo, Long Bagun Ulu, Ujoh Bilang, Rukun Damai, Batu Majang, Long Hurai, Menhak Besar, Memhak Ulu, Long Melaham Village. In Long Humung District, there are eight villages affected by the flood, namely Datah Bilang Baru Village, Datah Bilang Ulu, Datah Bilang Ilir, Mamahak Teboq, Matalibaq, Long Hubung, Lutan, and Kampung Sirau. For Long Pahangai District, there are 10 villages affected by the flood, namely Long Lunuk Village, Long Lunuk Baru, Long Pahangai, Long Pahangai I, Lirung Ubing, Naha Aruq, Long Isun, Long Pahangai II, Long Tuyoq, and Kampung Liu Muulang. "In Long Apari District there are six areas affected by the floods namely Kampung Long Apari, Tiong Ohang, Noha Tifab, Long Keroq, Long Pen Strange I, and Long Penengi Village II," said Dody.
