Disposal Of Family's Ash On Turkey Beach, British Tourists Asked To Clean Up
JAKARTA - A number of British tourists were asked to clean the ashes of their family cremation which was dropped in the Uzunyali Beach area, Turkey. Cremation is known to be illegal in Turkey.
Quoting Metro.co.uk, Wednesday, May 15, the panic was felt by local tourists in the beach area after the activity was carried out by British citizens.
Health authorities in Marmais, Turkey immediately plunged into the scene. They took water samples from the coastal area where the cremation ashes were dumped.
Documentation from sources at the site shows the British tourist was in a coastal area inundated with knee-high water spreading the ashes of his family when other tourists were in the same location.
It was later discovered that the cremation ashes came from someone who died at sea.
Cremation is not allowed in Turkey, which is mostly inhabited by Muslims. The country also has strict restrictions on bringing the ashes into its territory.
Those who die in Turkey and not Muslims can be buried according to their own practices in the country of origin.
While published water samples were reported to have no health risks from the spread of the cremation ashes.
