Police Name 1 Suspect In Illegal PMI Case At The RI-Malaysia Limit
KAPUAS HULU - Kapuas Hulu Resort Police, West Kalimantan Province, named one suspect with the initials S (34) in the case of smuggling Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Badau District on the border of Indonesia and Malaysia, in the Kapuas Hulu Regency."The suspect is suspected of facilitating PMI to enter Malaysia illegally," said Head of the Kapuas Hulu Police Unit Iptu Rinto Sihombing in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Antara, Tuesday, May 14.Rinto said suspect S, who is a resident of Badau Subdistrict, was involved in the attempt to smuggle six non-procedural PMIs from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province, who were thwarted by the Badau Police.In this case, suspect S was charged with Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law number 18 of 2017 concerning the protection of Indonesian Migrant Work, with a maximum threat of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 15 billion.According to Rinto, suspect S admitted that he was contacted by someone with the initials U, to work together to facilitate the non-procedural PMI to Malaysia, where after arriving in Malaysia they will be met with someone with the initials A.From the results of the investigation, suspect S and a person with the initials U have done the same thing twice."We have detained the suspect for further processing, while the six PMIs who were victims of the smuggling efforts have been secured and returned to return to their area of origin," explained Rinto.Rinto said that in this case, the six non-procedural PMIs had paid around Rp. 7 million per person, who departed from Lombok to Pontianak and used public transportation to Badau.Because there is public information regarding the non-procedural PMI smuggling plan, the Badau Police carried out a raid on the Badau District road and it was found that one car was carrying six PMIs from Lombok.
"At that time, the Badau Police immediately secured six PMIs and drivers and secured a car, from the incident it was revealed the role of suspect S who facilitated the non-procedural PMI smuggling," said Rinto.
