Tipu-tipu Send PMI NTB Illegal To Australia, Police Fight For Victim Restitution

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police (Polda) are fighting for restitution rights or losses for victims of fraud sending illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to Australia.

Head of the General Criminal Investigation Sub-Directorate of the NTB Police for Youth, Children and Women AKBP Ni Made Pujawati in Mataram, Tuesday, said that his party is fighting for the right to restitution of victims by cooperating with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

"So, to fulfill the victim's rights, namely compensation for this case, we are collaborating with LPSK to help us calculate restitution. It has been submitted and is in the process," said Made Pujawati.

He ensured that the calculation results of the restitution of victims of illegal migrant workers from LPSK would be complete for case files belonging to three suspects who are now languishing in the detention room of the NTB Police Headquarters.

"We hope that later the results from LPSK can be considered by the judge in making decisions," he said.

The NTB Regional Police revealed this case by naming three suspects who acted as recruiting sponsors and field recruiters with nine victims.

For the suspect who acts as a recruitment sponsor with the initials AS. This suspect is known as a dancer who graduated from the Indonesian Dangdut Contest (KDI).

Two other suspects who act as prospective migrant workers in the field have the initials MS and HW.

Investigators named the three people as suspects by applying Article 10, Article 11 in conjunction with Article 4 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and/or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.

From the results of the interim investigation, the police have just found the restitution of two victims worth Rp. 260 million. The loss came from the victim's deposit to the suspects.

One of the victims named Lukman admitted to depositing Rp140 million to the suspects. The money was asked by the suspects as a departure fee and working as a migrant worker in Australia.

"We hope that with the disclosure of this case our money can return," said Lukman.
