Film Legend B, Director Roger Corman Dies At The Age Of 98

JAKARTA - Roger Corman, director and producer of the film legend, died at the age of 98. He died on May 9 announced by the family.

Corman died at his residence in the Santa Monica area, Calif and was surrounded by his family members.

"The films are revolutionary and iconoclastic, and reflect the spirit of the times. When asked how he wants to be remembered, he said, 'I am a filmmaker, that's all," the family told Variety today, Monday, May 13.

Roger Corman is the figure behind New World Pictures and Concorde/New Horizons. He is one of the pioneers of a low-bujet film with various genres ranging from horror, action, science fiction, and family themes. He is also behind the development of various film talents from director Jack Nicholson, Robert de Niro, director of Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese.

At the beginning of his career, Coppola and James Cameron made their films for Corman. Coppola also made Corman play Senator at The Goodman 2.

Taking care of more than 70 films and producing 300 new talents, Roger Corman started his career independently.

This year, he was announced with Joe Dante and Brad Krevoy planning to reboot the film Little Ship of Halloween Horrors, Corman's classic film. The original film was made in two days using the set of the film he made earlier, A Bucket of Blood.

This news is a sorrow in the world of cinema, especially the directors who started their careers with Corman and the production house.

One of them is John Carpenter who calls Corman the most influential director of his life. Through his personal tweet, he wrote, "A fortune to know him, as a good friend. He shaped my childhood with science fiction and Edgar Allen Poe."
