Convicted Candidate From NasDem Sues KPU Purworejo To Administrative Court For Crossing Out From DCT
The legislative candidate who was convicted in the election criminal case, Muhammad Abdullah, sued the KPU of Purworejo Regency, Central Java, to the Semarang State Administrative Court (PTUN) because his name was dropped from the List of Permanent Candidates (DCT) participating in the 2024 General Election.Spokesperson for the Semarang State Administrative Court (PTUN) Elwis Parpeacean Sitio confirmed the lawsuit filed by the candidate for the Purworejo Regency DPRD from the NasDem Party."The lawsuit has come in and is starting to be tried," he said in Semarang, Antara, Wednesday, May 8.The plaintiff asked the Administrative Court to cancel the Decree of the Purworejo Regency KPU Number 1530 of 2024 concerning Amendments to DCT for Members of the Purworejo Regency DPRD in the 2024 General Election."The KPU decree dated February 16, 2024, dropped the name of the plaintiff from the DPT," he added.He said the trial of the case was carried out through an e-court mechanism, except during witness examination.Previously, the Central Java High Court sentenced the Purworejo Regency DPRD candidate Muhammad Abdullah in an election crime caseIn the appeal decision, the High Court handed down a six-month prison sentence with the condition that the crime does not need to be served unless within one year the defendant's trial commits another criminal act that can be convicted.The criminal verdict was heavier than the verdict of the Purworejo District Court which sentenced him to three months in prison.Abdullah was proven to have violated Article 493 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.
The NasDem Party politician was proven to have carried out a campaign involving minors and the video recording was shared through social media.Based on the decision, Muhammad Abdullah was dropped from DCT based on the KPU Decree of Purworejo Regency after the election vote on February 14, 2024.
