Democrats Are Not Worried That PDIP Will Be An Opposition: Good For Democracy
JAKARTA - The Democrat Party admits that it is not worried if PDIP decides to become an opposition to the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government.
Member of the High Council of the Democratic Party, Syarief Hasan said, it would be good for democracy if PDIP took a stand outside the government.
"No (worry, red). Because outside, it's also good for democracy," Syarief told reporters, Monday, May 6.
Even so, continued Syarief, Democrats do not want to intervene in the PDIP's decision which has not yet decided whether to be inside or outside the government. According to him, it is the authority of each political party, including the PDIP.
"It is the PDIP itself who will decide whether to be in the coalition or whether to be in the opposition," said Syarief.

It is known, PDIP gave a signal to become an opposition to the Prabowo-Gibran government. According to PDIP politician Masinton Pasaribu, supervision of the government will remain effective when they become part of the opposition.
This is based on the experience of the bull party when 10 years became the opposition during the reign of the 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
"We see that our advantage of being outside the government is the ability to ensure the government's control system remains effective," Masinton Pasaribu said in a discussion entitled 'Democracy Without Opposition', on Saturday, May 4.
Instead, Masinton considered, the existence of the opposition was very important because it provided good political education to the public.
"The opposition provides people with choices of views presented by both the government and those outside the government," he said.
