Minister Of Manpower Ida: The Government's Commitment To Rejecting Cheap Wages And Unilateral Layoffs

JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah stated that the government is committed to unilaterally rejecting low wages and termination of employment (PHK) as called for by workers and laborers in commemoration of International Labor Day, today."I think our commitment is the Ministry of Manpower, the government's commitment, the same as the commitment of fellow workers or laborers. We refuse low wages, we also reject layoffs unilaterally," he said in response to media questions after the peak event commemorating Labor Day (May Day) 2024 in North Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, May 1.In an effort to support the realization of the welfare of workers and laborers, his party has launched the Decree of the Minister of Manpower (Kepmenaker) Number 76 of 2024 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Industrial Relations of Pancasila.The purpose of these guidelines is to strengthen and understand the values of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution in the business world, create business continuity and harmony in employment relations and improve the knowledge of Pancasila's industrial relations for business actors in preparation for the world of work.There are six principles in its application, including prioritizing the common interest between employers, workers/laborers, the community and the government. The next principle is cooperation between workers and employers as partners in need, the existence of functional relationships and division of tasks.In it there is a principle of family philosophy, the creation of peace of business and peace of work, as well as improving welfare.In addition, embracing the principle of kinship and mutual cooperation which is a reflection of the Indonesian nation.Ida said that in the Pancasila industrial relationship, the principle of deliberation is needed for consensus that prioritizes manners, both actions and speech styles.
"We ask all trade unions/laborers and company management to follow Pancasila's industrial relations," he said.
