The Man In Karo Who Drifted In The River Was Found 10 Km From A Lost Location
The joint SAR team evacuated the body of a man who was reported to have swept away since Friday, April 26 in the Lau Kemiri River, Kemkem Village, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province (North Sumatra).
The body of Firman Ginting (40), a resident of Tigabinanga District who allegedly fell and was dragged by the river, was found after five days of being declared missing.
"The victim was found dead Tuesday at 17.30 WIB about 10 kilometers from the initial location where the victim was dragged by the overflow of the Lau Kemiri River," said Head of the Medan Basarnas Office Mustari. in a written statement, Tuesday, April 30, confiscated by Antara.
According to him, the unfortunate incident occurred when the victim on Friday, April 26 at 14.00 WIB tried to move his car parked on the edge of the Lau River Kemiri.
"At that time, the river water was overflowing so that the victim and his car were carried away and washed away," said Mustari.
"At around 15.00 WIB, the victim's car was found about 500 meters from the initial location. However, the victim has not been found. Residents of the community and their families have tried to search," he said.
"However, this effort has not been successful, so the victim's family reported the incident to the police, and the Medan SAR Office through the Tanah Karo BPBD," he said.
In an effort to search for victims, SAR officers followed the Lau Kemiri River with boats and other equipment up to hundreds of meters from the scene.
"Since the first day the information about the incident was received, the team immediately moved to the location and conducted a search with ground scouting around the riverbank and others," said Mustari.

"The team also coordinated with the Lau Gunung hydropower plant to carry out monitoring around the floodgate location until finally today's search (Tuesday) paid off." he said.
