PNM Has Not Planned To Raise Interest Rates Despite The Rising BI Rate

JAKARTA - PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) has not planned to raise the basic lending rate even though Bank Indonesia (BI) has raised the benchmark interest rate or BI Rate to the level of 6.25 percent.

PNM President Director Arief Mulyadi at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 30, said that his party would actually lower the interest of cyclical-cycle financing recipients for credit that is disciplined in paying installments. This is in accordance with the direction of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk as the holding company.

So there is a form of appreciation and motivation for them. They are disciplined and can already develop their business because we will not add a ceiling if their business and working capital needs do not increase," said Arief, quoted by Antara.

"We appreciate the decrease in interest compared to his friends who are still at the bottom (cycle)," he added.

Arief said that until the first quarter of 2024, PNM had 15.20 million customers, with the realization of micro-credit disbursement reaching Rp44.30 trillion.

He said that since the holding with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk was formed, around 1.37 million ultramicro customers have gone up to the BRI micro class, and there are about 2 million new customers who have the potential to advance to BRI micro customers.

Arief further said that the distribution target this year is IDR 72 trillion, not far from the realization of lending in 2023, which is IDR 70 trillion.

He said this year's target did not increase significantly due to conditions of economic uncertainty, both at the national, regional, and global levels.
