ICW Concerning Ghufron Discussing The Transfer Of Ministry Of Agriculture Employees: There Is A Signal Of Misuse Of Authority To Influence Trade

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) assesses that the communication made by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) regarding employee mutations cannot be underestimated.

The KPK Supervisory Board is asked to move to investigate whether there is abuse of authority to trade sources.

It is known that the current KPK Supervisory Board is investigating allegations of ethical violations that ensnared Nurul Ghufron after he communicated with the Ministry of Agriculture regarding employee mutations. He will be tried on Thursday, May 2.

"The actions of brother Ghufron if later it is proven that he cannot be underestimated," said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, April 30.

"He is alleged to have abused his authority and even traded influence to help certain parties at the Ministry of Agriculture," he continued.

In addition, the KPK Council was also asked to investigate when the communication between Ghufron and the Ministry of Agriculture was carried out. This is because the current anti-corruption commission is dealing with allegations of corruption by former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

If it is proven that ICW has asked the Supervisory Board to impose severe sanctions with the type of punishment in the form of "requested to submit resignation as a Leader," said this anti-corruption activist.

The request, said Kurnia, is in accordance with Article 10 paragraph (3) letter b of Supervisory Board Regulation Number 3 of 2021. Even within the framework of international law by referring to the UN Convention Against Corruption or the United Nation Convention Against Corruption, Ghufron's actions in the form of trading influence or trading in influence and are classified as criminal acts of corruption," said Kurnia.

As previously reported, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, will be tried for ethics related to allegations of communication with the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the employee meeting on Thursday, May 2. The KPK Council decided that the trial was carried out because they had a number of evidences.

They have also clarified a number of parties, including former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Meanwhile, Ghufron has reported KPK Council Member Albertina Ho to the KPK Supervisory Board in the midst of investigating the alleged ethical violation. He also sued the KPK Supervisory Board to the State Administrative Court (PTUN).

The report against Albertina was carried out because he coordinated with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to investigate allegations of ethical violations by the prosecutor with the initials IT who extorted judges of up to Rp3 billion. Meanwhile, the lawsuit to the Administrative Court was filed because the KPK Council was deemed not entitled to investigate the alleged ethics because it had expired.
