James Gunn Denies Planning Henry Cavill Out Of DC

JAKARTA - James Gunn opened his voice after a number of rumors about himself and Henry Cavill began to emerge. He denies a conspiracy that calls himself always plans to remove Henry Cavill from the cinematic DC universe.

In the middle of shooting Superman's new film and the second season of Peacemaker, Gunn took the time to answer fan questions on social media.

One fan said Gunn had intended to cancel Henry Cavill as Superman since he directed The Suicide Squad.

"I don't understand why (the rumor is circulating)," wrote James Gunn.

"Besides the fact that I'm not interested in managing DC until Peter (Safran) decides to do it with me so he can do executive things and I focus on the creative side, I'm recruited to write Superman as the initial process," he explained.

James Gunn felt he did not need to lie about Superman's development process and his decision to change his main character.

"I was recruited to write and be given Superman's new story, so why should I lie about not planning it in the premiere Squad which eventually produces the same thing?" Gunn said.

"How can this conspiracy theory make sense?" he said again.

Henry Cavill plays Superman's character and features it on the final credit for the 2022 film Black Adam. However, when James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed DC leaders and planned to reboot DC, they announced they would change Superman's cast.

David Corenswet was chosen as the new Superman. Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Skyper Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan also starred in this film.
