BNPB: 27 Houses In Garut And Tasikmalaya Damaged Due To Earthquakes, 4 Severe
A total of 27 housing units were recorded to have been damaged by an earthquake measuring magnitude (M) 6.2 that hit Garut, West Java, Saturday, April 27, at 23.29 WIB.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that most of the damaged houses were in Tasikmalaya City, Tasikmalaya Regency, and Garut Regency.
"4 housing units were heavily damaged (RB), 11 houses were lightly damaged (RS), 5 houses were lightly damaged (RR), and 7 houses were affected," Abdul said in his statement, Sunday, April 28.
Abdul said, apart from the residence, several public facilities to the school building were also damaged. However, the data has not been detailed in more detail, because it is still being collected.
"In addition to Atay's residence, this geological disaster also caused damage to public facilities such as places of worship, schools, and health facilities," he said.
Not only that, said Abdul, there were a number of residents who suffered injuries after the earthquake. He detailed that there were 4 people who suffered injuries from 17 families (KK) in Garut Regency to Tasikmalaya.
"Of this number, the most affected residents are in Garut Regency, with details of 3 people injured and 4 families affected. Meanwhile, in Tasikmalaya Regency 1 person was injured and 8 families were affected and in Tasikmalaya City 5 families were affected," he said.

A report from the BNPB Control and Operations Center (Pusadalops) noted that at least nine districts and cities were affected by the Garut earthquake.
These include Tasikmalaya Regency, Tasikmalaya City, Sukabumi Regency, West Bandung Regency, Ciamis Regency, Bandung Regency, Pangandaran Regency, Purwakarta Regency, and Sumedang Regency.
Abdul revealed that BNPB had made efforts to handle the emergency after the earthquake occurred. "In addition, to anticipate aftershocks, BPBD Sumedang Regency together with related agencies have set up evacuation tents in the parking lot of Sumedang Hospital," he said.
