President Xi Jinping: This Planet Is Big Enough To Accommodate China-US Joint Development And Prosperity

JAKARTA - President Xi Jinping hopes the United States can see China's development from a positive point of view, saying the two countries should be partners and not hurt each other when accepting Foreign Minister Antony Blinken at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, Friday.

President Xi said diplomatic relations between the United States and China this year entered 45 years. During that period, he continued, these relations had gone through difficult times, and there were a number of important inspirations that could be offered.

He said China was pleased to see the United States confident, open, prosperous and developing, and hoped the United States could also see China's development from a positive side.

"This is a fundamental problem that must be addressed, such as the first button of the shirt to be tidied up, so that China-US relations are completely stable, improving, and moving forward," Xi said.

President Xi further said that China and the United States should be partners and not rivals; help each other to achieve success, not hurt each other; seek common ground and keep differences, not engage in cruel competition; and respect words with action, not say one thing but do the other.

"I propose mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation as the three main principles. Both are lessons from the past and guidelines for the future," Xi said.

Currently, he continued, an unprecedented transformation in the past century is taking place in an in-depth way, and the international situation is changing and volatile.

"This is a shared desire from the two countries and the international community to see China and the United States strengthen dialogue, manage differences, and advance cooperation," Xi said.

"I have said many times that the planet is big enough to accommodate the joint development and prosperity of each China and the United States," said President Xi.

President Xi reminisced about his meeting with US President Joe Biden in San Francisco last year, when they launched San Francisco's future-oriented vision.

He said, in recent months, the two teams had acted based on the mutual understanding of the two heads of state, maintaining communication in various fields and making some good progress.

"However, there are still some issues that need to be addressed that require further efforts. Your visit this time has been agreed between President Biden and me in our telephone talks a few weeks ago. I hope your visit this time will be productive," he said.
