Don't Want To Sell TikTok, ByteDance Willing To Close Its Application In The US
JAKARTA The US government's insistence on selling TikTok seems to be ignored by ByteDance. The Chinese company prefers to shut down TikTok in the US rather than releasing the platform.
Before TikTok is permanently closed due to the divestment law (UU) to be passed, ByteDance plans to fight the government through legal channels. They will keep the TikTok platform in the US first.
Quoting from Reuters, a nearby source ByteDance said the company was not afraid of the losses they would face. The reason is, TikTok only contributes a small part of the daily revenue and active users at ByteDance.
Therefore, ByteDance will continue to maintain TikTok and release the platform from American entanglement. They don't want to sell TikTok to any party, especially if potential buyers come from the US.
TikTok has the same view as its parent company. When asked about the divestment bill signed by US President Joe Biden, TikTok gave a statement by ByteDance posted on the Toutiao platform.
