TNBTS Cleans Up Again, Activities On Mount Bromo Closed Until April 26, 2024

JAKARTA - The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) again closed tourist activities on Mount Bromo on April 25-26, 2024. The closure was carried out to clean up the area.

Head of Administration Section of the TNBTS Center Septi Eka Wardhani said similar activities were carried out in early April 2024. This effort, he said, aims to provide education to visitors about waste prevention.

"We want to provide education to visitors, that the garbage is a big problem and must be prevented together," said Septi in Malang City, East Java, Tuesday, April 23, as reported by Antara.

Septi explained that the public or tourists visiting the national park area were asked not to throw away or leave the garbage. The waste can be stored first and will be disposed of in the provided place.

According to him, TNBTS BB hopes that the public can be more aware of the importance of not littering in the national park area. Visitors are expected to be more responsible for their respective waste.

"The national park area is not a garbage dump. That's why we don't provide a lot of trash cans, because we hope visitors can be responsible for their own waste," he said.

The first phase of the Bromo area cleaning action has been carried out on April 4 from 00.01 WIB to April 5, 2024 at 23.59 WIB. The second phase will be carried out on April 25 at 00.01 WIB until April 26, 2024 at 23.59 WIB.

Septi said that in the first phase of the cleaning of the area, there were approximately 3.5 tons of garbage cleaned from the Mount Bromo area. The waste is mostly in the form of plastic that is thrown away carelessly.

In this first stage, a number of points that became locations for cleaning up waste included Mount Penanjakan, Bukit Kedaluh, Cendik Intersection, Bincil Pakis, Pasir Sea, the area around the Bromo ladder, the peak of Mount Bromo and Savana Lembah Watangan.

In the cleaning action carried out in early April 2024, there were approximately 450 personnel deployed starting from the TNBTS Center, TNI/Polri, volunteers, motorist and horse tourism services, including street vendors (PKL).

"In total there are 450 personnel from various elements deployed. The total cleaned waste reaches more than 3.5 tons or equivalent to a capacity of 12 pickup cars," he said.

On April 25-26, the closure of the Mount Bromo area will be carried out starting from the Probolinggo Regency area at the Cemorolawang entrance. Meanwhile, from the direction of Pasuruan Regency, access is closed from the Dingklik area.

Then, for the entrance from the direction of Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency, it was closed in the Jemplang area.

Based on records from the TNBTS Center, the number of tourist visits at one of the main tourist destinations in East Java throughout 2023 reached 368,507 people, which were divided into Indonesian and foreign tourists.

This number is divided into 355,297 Nusantara tourists and 13,210 foreign tourists. The visit also provided Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) worth IDR 14.70 billion.
