Indonesia Becomes Host Of APSMC 2024, Kominfo Hopes It Can Improve The Quality Of Telecommunication Services

JAKARTA - Indonesia will host 10th Asia Pacific Spectrum Management Conference (APSMC) 2024 which will last for two days on 23 to 24 April 2024 in Central Jakarta.

As the name implies, this conference will discuss various issues related to frequency spectra such as mobile broadband, 5G, 6G, WiFi, satellites, and disaster issues.

"This conference will discuss crucial issues related to spectral management, including its impact on mobile broadbands such as 5G-6G, satellite issues, case studies of spectral roadmaps from several countries as well as challenges for future technology ecosystems," said Director General of Resources and Postal and Informatics Equipment of the Ministry of Communication and Information Ismail.

Furthermore, Ismail also hopes that this conference can improve the quality of telecommunications services in Indonesia through better frequency spectrum management.

"For us, what is important is how this frequency spectrum can support improving service quality because we know our country is a little behind the quality of its services compared to other countries in the world, even in Southeast Asia," said Ismail quoting Kominfo's official broadcast.

On the other hand, through this conference, the Director of Resources Arrangement of the Directorate General of SDPPI of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Denny Setiawan, hopes that Indonesia can learn about various new telecommunications technologies and how to regulate them.

"There is technology that directly mobile phones from satellites, for example, we also have to see if it's a threat or an opportunity, how do we see it from the side of the competition, how from the benefits, so that when the technology comes, we are ready," added Denny.
