Constitutional Court Rejects Lawsuit For Presidential Election, KPU Sets Prabowo-Gibran To Be Elected The Day After Tomorrow

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has scheduled the announcement of the determination of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as candidate pairs for the 2024 presidential election in the next two days.

This follows up on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which rejected all applications of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in reading the decision on the 2024 presidential election dispute today.

"The next stage for the presidential election is to determine the pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates elected for the 2024 General Election, which is scheduled by the KPU to be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10.00 WIB, held at the KPU office," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari at the Constitutional Court building, Monday, April 22.

From the Constitutional Court's decision, Hasyim emphasized that the General Election Commission Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the results of the 2024 General Election at the national level was declared true and valid.

"Against all the points of application, whether the proposal submitted by candidate pair 1 or number 3 or in the Pledge number 1 and 2, it is stated that all the points of application are groundless according to law," said Hasyim.

It is known that the Constitutional Court rejected Anies-Muhaimin's request as well as Ganjar-Mahfud. The court considered that the arguments submitted by the applicant were not based on law.

"Reject the applicant's application in its entirety," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo when reading the verdict.

However, the three Constitutional Court judges expressed different opinions or dissenting opinions on this decision, namely Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat. The three of them saw that the petition should have been partially granted, and re-voting was carried out in a number of areas that were considered problematic.
