JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir warned state-owned companies to be careful in carrying out corporate actions in the midst of geopolitical conflicts that are currently shaking the world.

The global geopolitical situation is currently heating up, especially the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran. Then, the conflict that is also still ongoing between Russia and Ukraine.

"We want (corporate action) as much as possible, but the reality of the market is like this, we have to be careful," said Erick to the media crew in the Central Jakarta area, written on Sunday, April 21.

Erick also admitted that when he heard the news of the Middle East conflict escalation, he immediately called the SOE directors and also sent a short message to provide directions to be vigilant.

"That's what I warned you yesterday, how to optimize these state-owned companies must really open their eyes with this situation. Yesterday I called the president directors, I even WA (WhatsApp), in order to anticipate this, don't do this," he explained.

Erick said, each state-owned company has a different strategy in dealing with world turmoil.

Even so, he emphasized, SOEs must still be able to complete homework (PR), namely achieving a dividend target of IDR 85.8 trillion for 2024.

"We have a dividend target next year to increase again, right, IDR 81 trillion to IDR 85 trillion. So if you don't warn from March-April, I'm afraid we will be complacent because our performance is good, so if dividends are not achieved next year, this is what I warn you," he explained.
