8 Rohingya Immigrants Escape From The West Aceh Regency Government Shelter

ACEH - The District Government (Pemkab) of West Aceh noted that as many as eight Rohingya immigrants who have been accommodated in temporary shelters in the West Aceh Regent's Office Complex have now fled.

"Based on the results of our checks, these eight immigrants have fled the shelter," said Head of the West Aceh Regency National Unity and Political Office, Abdurrani to Meulaboh, West Aceh, Friday, April 19, as reported by Antara.

The Rohingya immigrants who fled were Anisu Rahman (18), Shah Mohammed (24) Diil Kayes (18).

Then Anwar Khalek (13), Uddin Jossim (24), Amanullah Etadullah (34), Ullah Enaya (27), and a woman named Begum Surya (23).

Abdurani said that so far the local government did not know for sure the cause of the escape of the eight immigrants from the temporary shelter location.

According to him, immigrants are suspected of escaping at night when the other immigrants are asleep.

He said the immigrants who had been temporarily accommodated at the West Aceh Regent's Office Complex were not going to Indonesia but to Malaysia.

However, because the ship carrying it had an accident in the waters of Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, the immigrants were then in the local district.

Abdurani said that with the immigrants running away from the shelter, the number of immigrants currently remaining in West Aceh Regency was 67 people, out of the previous total of 75 people.
