Weather Thursday 18 April 2024: Beware Of Extreme Weather In 27 Provinces
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of thunderstorms or rain that can be accompanied by lightning or lightning at a number of points in 27 provinces in Indonesia on Thursday, April 18. Based on the weather early warning published on the BMKG website, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday morning the storm rain was predicted to fall at a number of points in the provinces of Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, and DKI Jakarta. Then, Central Java Province, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan. There are also North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, and West Papua.
In addition to thunderstorms, BMKG also reminded the public to be aware of strong winds in the Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.
BMKG also included a number of areas in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains, such as floods. The areas include the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, Jambi, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara. Next are West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Papua.
Previously, BMKG had issued an early warning to be aware of extreme weather heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that could potentially hit a number of areas in Indonesia in the next week or from Tuesday 16 to April 21, 2024.

Head of the Public Meteorology Center Andri Ramdhani said that in the next week the extreme weather could occur in most Sumatra, especially parts of the west coast, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan.
This extreme weather also has the potential to hit the areas of West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, the north coast of North Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, and most of Papua.
