Corruption Defendant Rp11.5 Million PNPM Magelang Demanded 21 Months In Prison And A Fine Of Rp50 Million
SEMARANG - Zaetun, a defendant in the alleged corruption case of the Mandiri Rural National Community Empowerment Program (PNPM) in Magelang Regency, Central Java, in 2012 which cost the state Rp11.5 million, was sentenced to 21 months in prison by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).Public Prosecutor Robby Hermansyah also demanded that the Chairman of the Mangunsari Village Mujadahan Group Recitation Group to pay a fine of Rp. 50 million which if not paid will be replaced with a 3-month prison sentence."To declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 which has been amended and added to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption," he said during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, Antara, Wednesday, April 17.Defendant Zaetun was also required to pay compensation for state losses he enjoyed from the results of the alleged corruption crime amounting to Rp11.5 million.Apart from Zaetun, there were two other chairmen of the recitation group who also applied for a loan from PNPM Mandiri through the Activity Management Unit (UPK) which was also tried in the case.The two defendants were respectively Chairman of Yasinan Putri Cebongsari, Mangunsari Village, Sunarti who was sentenced to 23 months in prison and the head of the Muslim group Cebongan, Mangunsari Village, Marliyah, who was sentenced to 22 months in prison.The two defendants were also required to pay compensation for state losses, Rp70 million and 35,4 million, respectively.In their consideration, the prosecutor said the defendants' actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption."The defendants have not returned the state's losses," he said in a trial attended by the defendants from the Magelang Regency Prison.In the alleged corruption, the three defendants applied for a loan using the names of the recitation members for their personal needs.On their way, it turned out that the defendants could not pay off the loan at the Mandiri PNPM program sourced from the APBD.
