Apple Prepares M4 Computer Processor With AI Capability For All Mac Models

JAKARTA - Based on a report from Bloomberg News on Thursday, April 11, Apple Inc., is approaching the production of an M4 computer processor that will have artificial intelligence processing capability (AI) and plans to update each Mac model with the chip.

The company aims to release an updated computer by the end of this year and early next year. The computers will include new iMacs, low-class 14-inch MacBook Pros, 14-inch and 16-inch high-end Macs, and mini Macs.

PC makers have experienced a decline since the end of the sales glory period during the pandemic to work and learn from home. The industry relies on hopes of a revival with a new generation of laptops and desktops with stronger chips that can handle artificial intelligence tasks such as encapsulating documents without having to send data to the cloud.

Intel is preparing such chips, as well as its competitors such as Qualcomm. Reuters also reported that Nvidia also plans to use its power in AI chips to jump into the PC market with new chips as soon as 2025.

Apple plans to highlight the AI processing capabilities of these new chips, and how they will integrate with the next version of macOS, according to a Bloomberg report.

The news comes ahead of Apple's annual developer conference in June, and reports state that the iPhone maker will announce a new AI partnership and unveil significant changes to iOS.

Mac sales fell 27% in Apple's latest fiscal year ending in September. In October, Apple revealed current-generation M3 chips and new MacBook Pro and iMac computers that will get them.
