Agam Regency Government Deploys Heavy Equipment To Clean Marapi's Cold Lava Materials

The Agam Regency Government, West Sumatra, deployed a joint team and three units of heavy equipment to clean up flood materials and cold lava hit two sub-districts in the area, Friday (5/4).

"The joint team cleaned up cold flash flood and lahar materials stockpiling residents' houses, roads and others," said Head of the Agam Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Budi Perwira Negara reported by ANTARA, Saturday, April 6.

The Agam Regency Government also deployed three units of heavy equipment to clean up the cold flash flood and lava material.

Currently, cleaning is still ongoing in the affected sub-districts, namely, Sungai Pua and Canduang sub-districts.

"We are trying to clean the material as soon as possible, so that the traffic flow returns to normal," he said.

He added that the impact of the incident had caused damage to public facilities and belonging to residents in Canduang and Sungai Pua sub-districts.

In Canduang District, flash floods and cold lava have cut off agricultural roads from Lakuang Surian, Jorong Labuang to Jorong Puti Ramuh, Nagari or Canduang Koto Laweh Village. A Mitsubishi L300 car was trapped at the location of the farm.

Meanwhile, in Nagari, Batabukir, 69 units of residents' houses were affected, with 78 families with 261 people.

Some residents fled to SD 02 Kubang Duo and the house of the jorong guardian and other relatives.

Several two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles were also badly damaged, while the road access was closed.

"In Sungai Pua Subdistrict, flash floods also hit road access in Nagari Sungai Pua. We are coordinating with the nagari government and sub-districts to record losses incurred due to this natural disaster," he said.
