The Indonesian Consulate General In Guangzhou Saves Indonesian Citizens From Alleged Trafficking In Persons
JAKARTA - The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Guangzhou rescued a baby Indonesian citizen (WNI) with the initials CP who is suspected of being sold to Chinese nationals in the city of Fuqing, Fujian province.
"Our priority is to ensure that the baby is healthy and safe and on April 4, 2024, thank God the CP baby has been returned to Indonesia," said Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou Ben Perkasa Drajat in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, April 5.
According to Ben Perkasa, on Thursday (4/4) the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou in collaboration with the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police and the Fuqing City Police and Fuzhou City have repatriated an eight-month-old Indonesian citizen with the initials CP.
The CP baby was rescued from an individual who tried to sell it to Chinese nationals in Fuqing City, Fujian Province, China.
The baby was originally brought by an Indonesian woman with the initials S in early January 2024 on a tourist visa to China.
The purpose of S coming to China is to marry a Chinese citizen who has been regulated by another Indonesian citizen with the initials SU.

Based on S's confession, when S and baby CP arrived in Fuqing, SU and several other people, all of whom were Chinese nationals, had arranged the sale of CP to buyers.
"Currently these individuals have been detained and underwent an investigation process by the Chinese authorities. All parties involved, both Indonesian citizens and Chinese citizens, will be prosecuted. The National Police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also continue to oversee the development of this case," added Ben Perkasa.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou has collected information on indications of the Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) committed by the alleged perpetrators.
Fuqing and Fuzhou Police have also taken the necessary steps to ensnare the alleged perpetrator and ensure the safety of the baby.
