At The Constitutional Court Session, Airlangga Hartarto EMPHASIZED That There Is No Extra Social Assistance Program Related To Elections

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government did not issue additional social assistance programs (bansos) for the benefit of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

The affirmation began with the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo asking the four ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet to explain whether there was a special message from President Joko Widodo during the discussion of social protection programs.

"When discussing these aids, especially in the era leading up to the election, was there a message from the president or the proposal from the ministers that there was a sensitive nuance and had to be observed because it was related to election, was it not in the process on average? Maybe it can be explained by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy?" Suhartoyo asked during the trial of the Dispute on General Election Results (PHPU) at the Constitutional Court (MK), Friday, April 5.

Airlangga then mentioned that every limited meeting (ratas) that discusses social and social assistance programs, did not mention the slightest about elections.

All ministers are said to work according to their respective main duties and functions (tupoksi).

"First, we concentrate on the main duties and functions of each ministry. So in the discussion we always focus on the work of the ministry," said Airlangga.

"Regarding the election, of course it will be discussed at the Ministry of Home Affairs, discussing it with the Minister of Home Affairs. So if the economic sector, we will not discuss the election," he continued.

Airlangga also emphasized that there was no discussion related to elections in discussing the economic sector. Especially about community assistance programs.

"So there is no extra program related to elections. Nothing at all. Everything is in accordance with what is done every month and every year," said Airlangga.
