Anthony Ginting Aims For Indonesia Open 2024

JAKARTA Indonesian men's singles badminton player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, has ambitions to reach the final of the Indonesia Open 2024 and make up for his failure last year.

In the 2023 edition, Ginting came out as runner-up at Istora Senayan after in the final match he lost to Denmark's world number one single, Viktor Axelsen.

"Obviously I hope to achieve even more. Moreover, last year I was able to reach the final round and become runner-up. Of course, this year I have more motivation," he said at a press conference at the Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

The Indonesia Open 2024 will take place from 4-9 June 2024. This is the last major tournament that Ginting can maximize to hone his performance before appearing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Currently, Ginting is 27 years old so the 2024 Paris Olympics on 29 June-11 August 2024 could be his last chance to pursue an Olympic gold medal.

Ginting said that apart from the Indonesia Open 2024, tournaments that will be faced before the 2024 Paris Olympics will be very, very important to measure capabilities.

"This (Indonesia Open 2024) is one of the means of testing to maintain and improve performance. Hopefully what I and PBSI are preparing can produce the best results," he said.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Ginting failed in the semifinals. However, he then won the bronze medal match against Kevin Cordon.

This year, Ginting is in a safe position to get a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. From the men's singles, Jonatan Christie also has a safe position, who won the 2024 All England.
