Nissan Ensures GT-R And Z Sports Cars Have The Latest Generation
JAKARTA - Fun news for high-performance car fans. Recently, Nissan confirmed that they will continue to maintain the GT-R and Z sports models and both will have the latest generation.
Nissan North America Senior VP and Chief Planning Officer Ponz Pandikuthira said that both would get a change and development, but GT-R and Z would certainly have a place in Nissan's sports car line.
"The next generation of GT-R must be an authentic model," said Pandikuthira as quoted by the Motor Authority, Monday, April 1.
Previously, the current generation GT-R would reach the end of its production after 16 years. Production continues for the 2025 model by offering special editions, such as Takumi and Skyline.
Although it is still in the development stage and will look different from before, the manufacturer ensures that the next generation has characteristics of GT-R. The possibility of updating the model includes powertrain electricity and focus more on performance.
It is likely that Nissan will work with technicians from Formula E to test any scenarios that may occur. The car is likely to carry the latest platform with a lightweight EV battery.
In addition, the manufacturer also maintains the back light of the round which is the hallmark of this series. However, the appearance will be slightly different from before.

For Nissan Z, this model will also get the latest generation after being introduced in 2021. Even though it is only two years old, the manufacturer will prepare its newest model with significant changes.
It is possible that the powertrain currently used will be brought to the next generation in order to comply with current emission regulations. Beyond that, this two-door-style car is also said to carry a different design than before.
