Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Electric Car Wins 2024 World Performance Car Award

JAKARTA - After last July's global debut, Hyundai Ioniq 5N received a positive response as an electric vehicle (EV) that is not only environmentally friendly but also carries high performance, offering driving fun.

Recently, this aggressive design crossover won the 2024 World Car Awards in the World Performance Car category. This victory also confirmed the leading position of high-performance electric cars defeating other finalists from two BMW models, namely M2 and XM in this category.

Previously, Hyundai had achieved success at the World Car Awards with two models, namely the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 which won three consecutive times in the World Car of the Year 2022 and 2023, the World Electric Vehicle, and the World Car Design of the Year.

In terms of appearance, Ioniq 5 N is known to have a significant difference compared to its standard version. Division N added several elements to increase the impression of sporty in this model, such as black trim and rear wing designed to improve vehicle aerodynamics.

In addition, Division N revised several sections to ensure this car can travel with maximum performance, including suspension settings, aerodynamic components, and improvements to the regenerative braking system to reduce its weight.

One of the interesting things, of course, is the performance, with this crossover equipped with a dual electric motor generating 600 dk of power and a torque of 748 Nm. In fact, with the N Grin Boost feature, this figure can increase to 641 dk and the 770 Nm torque.

With this power, Ioniq 5 N can reach a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.5 seconds, with a maximum speed of 260 km/hour.

The manufacturer also embeds the latest battery pack with a capacity of 84 kWh, which is the highest among all Hyundai electric cars. With the ultra-fast charging feature, Ioniq 5 N can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes.

This EV was specially developed by Hyundai's top performance division, N. The manufacturer also confirmed that this model is their first step in planning electrification and hopes to bring in more EV cars developed by the division.
