Golkar And PDIP Rebutan Chair Of DPR 1, Who Deserves It?
JAKARTA - The two top political parties resulting from the big vote in the 2024 election are reportedly currently competing for the seat of Chairman of the DPR RI. The two political parties are none other than PDIP and the Golkar Party.
Unmitigated, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto asked all political parties including the Golkar Party to build a good political culture by referring to the norms and the rule of law in force.
"Well, the friend from Golkar must learn from 2014 because he should be in the political norms we hold, there is no law related to the election results and then amended after the election takes place," he said.
Hasto emphasized that Law Number 2 of 2018 concerning the MPR, DPR and DPD, and DPRD (MD3) have regulated that the seat of chairman of the DPR is determined from the most seats for political parties in the DPR.
So far, he said, PDIP has won in the 2024 General Election and the PDIP cadre will automatically fill the chair. "The chairman of the DPR is a symbol of people's trust in the election-winning party," he said.
Furthermore, Hasto reminded, the ambition of power with all efforts to win the chair of the chairman of the DPR will actually cause social conflict. Moreover, using legal instruments by changing the rules of the MD3 Law.
"Don't provoke attitude from PDIP, which in 2014 was very patient. 2014 the chairman of the DPR has problems and went to prison. When ethics and norms are ignored Karma. That should be a lesson. However, laws related to election results such as the MD3 Law will be changed for the sake of power ambition, there will be resistance strength from all sympathizers, members of PDIP cadres and we certainly don't want that impact," he explained.
Related to this, Hasto asked that the entire election process that had taken place be respected as the voice of the people. "Regard the voice of the people. Don't let the ambitions full of power be left alone. We have a limit of patience for that," he said.

Based on VOI records, the MD3 Law can be amended in a preliminary session in the DPR if the majority of factions in the council want it. In the MD3 Law made in 2018, the DPR leadership consists of 1 chairman and 5 deputy chairmen who are elected from and by members of the DPR who are elected in the Election.
The six DPR leaders were chosen in a fixed package. Article 84 paragraph (4) of the MD3 Law states that each faction in the DPR can propose one candidate for leadership of the DPR which is submitted in a plenary meeting of the DPR.
Initially, the leadership of the DPR was elected by deliberation for consensus, but if the deliberation was not reached, the leadership of the DPR was chosen by voting and the most votes were decided as the leadership of the DPR in the plenary meeting.
The chairman of the MPR, the position of seat of DPR 1 is still in accordance with the election rules for the chairman of the DPR as stated in Law Number 2 of 2018 concerning the MPR, DPR, DPRD and DPD (MD3), namely the winning political party for the 2024 Legislative Election.
"The chairman of the DPR is in accordance with the provisions of the MD3 Law, so the chairman of the DPR is occupied by the owner of the most seats in parliament," said Bamsoet at the Nusantara V building, the DPR/MPR complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 26.
Bamsoet did not deny the possibility of changes in the rules of the MD3 Law. However, he must admit that currently the Golkar Party's votes are still under the PDIP.
"There may be, we'll just see the trend. To this day I haven't seen any more, whether Golkar's voice has exceeded PDIP. But two days ago I saw Golkar was still below PDIP," he said.
Therefore, Bamsoet assessed that the position of chairman of the DPR must continue to follow the applicable rules. He refused if there was a revision of the MD3 Law just to accommodate his party being the leader of Parliament. Because according to him, all parties must maintain political stability.
Bamsoet's statement was reaffirmed by the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, who said that there was no scenario for his party to seize the seats of the next chairman of the DPR RI. Golkar remains committed to following the existing mechanisms.
"The Golkar Party has never won (the Speaker of the DPR's chair). We follow the existing mechanism, yes, and there is no scenario (to fight for the seat of the Speaker of the DPR)," said Airlangga during a press conference after a plenary meeting with the Central Leadership Council (DPP) and Golkar Party cadres at the Golkar Party DPP Office, West Jakarta, Sunday, March 10.
Airlangga said the matter of determining the chairman of the DPR would be decided after the 2024-2029 DPR member was officially sworn in in October 2024.
"The DPR issue will be decided after the DPR's inauguration on October 1," he added.
