BMKG Reminds Transportation Services To Anticipate Extreme Weather During Homecoming
JAKARTA - The leadership of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded providers of land, sea and air transportation services to anticipate the potential for extreme weather that takes place during the Eid homecoming flow.
"We urge all travelers, transportation service providers, and transportation operators to be aware of the possibility of extreme weather during homecoming," said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.
He explained that in general BMKG divides the weather conditions during the homecoming flow in three phases that must be watched out for; each period a week before Eid al-Fitr, on April 3-9, 2024, BMKG predicts that Indonesia has the potential to experience rain in the mild - moderate category.
The second period, a week during Eid, was on April 10-16, 2024, which predicted weather conditions in Indonesia to be generally sunny - sunny and cloudy.
Furthermore, the third period, or a week after Eid, namely on 17-23, BMKG predicts that northern and central Indonesia has the potential to experience light - moderate rain.
However, the Head of BMKG said that the weather conditions could turn extreme at any time because the dynamics of the atmosphere in Indonesia is very dynamic which is influenced by the seeds of tropical cyclones or tropical cyclones that occur in the Indian Ocean, entering the waters south of Indonesia.
BMKG hopes that travelers or service providers can actively see information and weather conditions before traveling.
"Especially for users and providers of ship shipping services, if the weather conditions are bad, don't force it and or it's better to postpone the trip. It's better to wait until the weather conditions return to normal because it is very dangerous for travel," he said.
