Prosecutors Demand Four Denpasar Satpol PP Attackers 2.5 Years In Prison

The Denpasar Public Prosecutor (JPU) has charged four defendants of the attack on the Denpasar City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) with imprisonment for two years and six months (2.5 years).

"Sentenced Defendant I Nyoman Sukerta, defendant Nanang Kosim, defendant Udi Imam Tutoko and defendant Herri to imprisonment for two years and six months reduced completely while the defendant is in detention with an order that the defendant remains in custody," said Denpasar Prosecutor Hardianto Saragih in a trial. charges at Denpasar District Court reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

The prosecutor asked the panel of judges to decide that the defendants had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act with violence or threats of violence against state officials.

This is as regulated and subject to criminal penalties in Article 214 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) jo. Article 211 of the Criminal Code as stated in the first indictment of the Public Prosecutor.

After reading the charges, the defendants' legal advisers will file a memorandum of defense on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Panel of Judges Wayan Yasa gave time to the defendants and legal advisers to prepare a memorandum of defense.

Previously, in the prosecutor's indictment, it was revealed that on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at around 23.00 WITA, Denpasar City Satpol PP officers carried out control operations against female commercial sex workers (PSK) at a prostitution localization site along Jalan Danau Tempe, South Denpasar, Bali.

During the operation, officers managed to capture 33 women suspected of being commercial sex workers, then taken to the Denpasar City Satpol PP Office.

Furthermore, at around 23.30 WITA, the defendant I Nyoman Sukerta coordinated with the localization manager named Wayan Suardika and planned to coordinate with the Satpol PP office to inquire about the further process of the woman who was caught in the control operation.

Furthermore, at around 00.00 WITA, the defendants I Nyoman Sukerta and Wayan Suardika arrived at the Satpol PP Office and were given permission to enter the Satpol PP office area to meet the victim witness I Wayan Wiratma who was a member of the Denpasar City Satpol PP. After receiving the news that Kasatpol PP was not there where the two defendants returned home. At the house of the defendant Nyoman Sukerta, the defendants drank alcoholic beverages.

However, after the liquor they drank had run out, an employee named Ardi provoked the defendants who provided information that Denpasar City Satpol PP officers challenged the defendants to duel.

After hearing the words, the defendants and their two friends, who were members of the TNI, immediately left for the Denpasar City Satpol PP Office using four motorbikes to attack the officers.

At around 04.30 WITA early Sunday, November 26, 2023, the defendants together with two members of the TNI Venli Veliksan Sadja and Jefry Gifary (separate prosecution files at the Udayana Military Court) arrived at the Denpasar City Satpol PP Office Jalan Kecubung No.1 East Denpasar.

In the indictment, the Public Prosecutor revealed that the defendants immediately committed violence, each of which was carried out by means of Jefry Gifary kicking the gate of the Satpol PP office and spontaneously removing and brandishing a black gun, but not shooting.

After the gate opened, it immediately entered and hit Satpol PP members using a gun handle, breaking the parked car window.

In the prosecutor's indictment, the defendant Venli helped by hitting a member of the Satpol PP using his hand, Defendant I Nyoman Sukerta held the neck of a member of the Satpol PP from behind when the Satpol PP member was attacked by Venli and ordered a prostitute who was caught in a control operation to get out and leave the office.

Other defendants also participated in the persecution of members of the Denpasar City Satpol PP.

As a result, several members of the Denpasar City Satpol PP were injured and taken to the hospital.
