LSI: Lawsuit In Constitutional Court Contrary To Public Logic Receiving Presidential Election Results

JAKARTA - Senior researcher of the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA, Ardian Sopa, stated that the lawsuit on the results of the presidential election (Pilpres) at the Constitutional Court (MK) contradicts public logic, which mostly accepts the results of the 2024 presidential election.

"Devicting the Constitutional Court is a constitutional right and a legal way. However, do not let the steps to the Constitutional Court be taken only as a form of "an accountability" for the candidate, or a successful team for the defeat suffered looking for scapegoats," he said in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 27.

He explained that the results of the latest survey by LSI Denny JA revealed that the majority of the people were 89.9 percent, receiving the decision of the General Elections Commission (KPU) which announced the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pairs as winners in the 2024 presidential election with one round.

He said, the acceptance of the wider community should also be accepted by political elites or defeated candidates, be it the pair Anies Baswedan 'Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Prabowo' Mahfud MD.

Ardian explained that of the majority who agreed with the KPU recapitulation results of 89.9 percent, there were Ganjar-Mahfud voters who received the election results of 90.3 percent, Anies-Muhaimin agreed 79.9 percent and Prabowo-Gibran voters received 93.8 percent.

"Voting each candidate who loses, the majority have accepted the KPU's decision, if you continue to force it, you can also see it as one of the unkempty attitudes to accept defeat," he asserted.

He was worried that if he continued not to accept the KPU's accusation of cheating, instead of getting support from the community, he would instead get negative sentiment from the community.

LSI Denny JA conducted a survey on March 1-15, 2024 with a multistage random sampling methodology. The survey margin of error is approximately 2.9 percent. Survey respondents amounted to 1,200. Data collection techniques with face-to-face interviews using questionnaires.

Respondents were asked, 'If later the KPU decides the Prabowo-Gibran pair won one round, will you agree or disagree?'. Agree to the KPU's decision as much as 89.8 percent, disagree with 9.3 percent and do not know/answer 0.9 percent.
