Trump Calls The October 7 Hamas Attack Terrible, But Israel Must End The War

JAKARTA - Former US President Donald Trump said he would react in the same way Israel did after the Hamas group attack last October, but Israel lost international support and had to end its war in Gaza.

The Republican presidential candidate in the 2024 United States presidential election said the massive killing of Hamas in southern Israel on October 7, was "one of the saddest things I've ever seen."

"Nevertheless, you have to end your war. You have to end it, you have to finish it," Trump said.

Trump made the comments in an interview with Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, published on Monday. The interview video was uploaded on the newspaper's website.

Trump was also asked how he would react if his family became victims of the Hamas tantrum.

"I'm going to say, I'll act the same way you do. You also have to be crazy not to do it. Only stupid people wouldn't do that. It was a terrible attack," he said.

"It really bothers me when I see people, they no longer talk about October 7, they talk about how aggressive Israel is," he said.

The Hamas-led attack killed 1,200 people and resulted in more than 250 people being held hostage, according to Israeli calculations.

In response, Israel launched an attack on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 32 thousand people, according to health authorities managed by Hamas in Gaza.
