Indonesian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: No Indonesian Citizens Become Victims Of Brutal Shooting At Russia's Crocus Moscow

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) ensures that so far no Indonesian citizens have been reported to have been victims of an armed group attack on the Crocus City Hall theater building near Moscow recently.

Russian authorities reported that the attack that took place on Friday, March 22 local time left at least 60 people dead and more than 100 injured.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow will immediately coordinate with local authorities and establish communication with the Indonesian people in Russia," said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha quoting Antara.

"Until now, there has been no indication of Indonesian citizens being victims," said Judha.

Judha also said that the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow had appealed to the Indonesian people in Russia to increase vigilance in the near future when Russian security forces were tightening security following the attack.

"Immediately contact the hotline of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow if there is an emergency situation," he said.

The attack on the Crocus City Hall, located in Krasnogorsk, a city west of the Russian capital - Moscow, was launched by a group of armed perpetrators who have yet to be identified.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of perpetrators of the attack opened fire randomly at people at the Crocodile City Hall before the start of a concert.

It was also reported that an explosion and fire had also occurred that destroyed a third of the theater building.

Security forces consisting of Rosgvardia's fast movement force (SOBR), riot police (OMON), as well as firefighters and paramedics with 50 ambulances were dispatched to evacuate victims of the terror act and secure the scene.

Responding to the incident, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to all the victims of the attack and hoped that all the injured victims as a result of the incident would recover soon.

Putin also expressed his gratitude to the doctors who worked hard to save the victims.
