Jokowi Rumored To Join Golkar, Kaesang: Whatever, No Problem

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep responded to the discourse of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who would join the Golkar Party (Golkar). According to Kaesang, it doesn't matter if it is true that Jokowi wants to join Golkar.

"It's up to me, I'm relaxed," said Kaesang Pangarep to reporters at PSI DPP, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 21.

Kaesang admitted that he could not impose his will on his father regarding political choices. According to him, this will return to Jokowi's decision regarding which political parties will be anchored.

"Yes, it's up to Pak Jokowi to come back again. I can't tell or what, it doesn't matter," said Kaesang.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave a response to the circulating issues regarding him who will serve as chairman of the Golkar Party.

President Jokowi, who just made a visit to Sultan Syarif Mohamad Alkadrie Hospital, Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, laughed when he heard a question from one of the media crew about the issue of him becoming the chairman of the Golkar Party.

"I am currently only the chairman of Indonesia," said President Jokowi jokingly in response to questions from the media crew last Thursday.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, acknowledged that there had been no discussion regarding the issue that President Joko Widodo would lead the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM).

"There has been no discussion yet," said Airlangga at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, on Tuesday, March 19.

Airlangga also dismissed the circulating issues regarding the possibility that Jokowi would become chairman of the Golkar Party replacing himself. "Who said that?" he said.
