Indonesia Is An Important Chinese Partner, President Xi Jinping Says Congratulations To Prabowo

JAKARTA - Indonesian Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto received congratulations from Chinese President Xi Jinping for his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

The remarks were conveyed through an official letter delivered directly by the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Lu Kang, when he met Prabowo Subianto at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Office, Thursday, March 21.

"I would like to congratulate and my best wishes for your election as President of the Republic of Indonesia," Xi told Prabowo in the letter dated March 20, 2024, in a press release received by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.

In the letter, Xi said China and Indonesia had a good history in an effort to accelerate the development of bilateral relations.

The relationship between China and Indonesia is very important. I am ready to work with you to direct the development of the Chinese-Indonesian community with a common future towards greater progress," Xi said.

Xi hopes that the relationship will be maintained when Prabowo Subianto officially serves as President of Indonesia. In his letter, Xi also hopes that Prabowo can bring prosperity to the people of Indonesia.

"Hopefully you will enjoy prosperity and the people are happy," Xi said.

Previously, several high-ranking state officials had congratulated Prabowo. one of them is from the United States.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States (US) or Secretary of State Anthony J Blinken congratulated him on his victory in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"We congratulate the President-elect Indonesia Prabowo Subianto for his victory," Blinken said in a press statement dated Wednesday (20/3) on the official US Department of State website quoted by ANTARA, Thursday (21/3).

Blinken said Indonesia and the United States have a history of good cooperation and have existed for 75 years. With Prabowo's election, he hopes that bilateral cooperation will continue to be well established.

"We look forward to a close partnership with President-elect Subianto and his administration while serving in October," Blinken said.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has appointed candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029.

The determination is contained in KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the results of the General Election of the President and Vice President, Members of the House of Representatives, Regional Representative Council, Provincial Regional House of Representatives, and National Regional House of Representatives/City in the General Election in 2024.

"The results of the national General Election as referred to in the First Dictum to the Fifth Dictum are set on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 22.18.19 minutes WIB," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari at the Indonesian KPU Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/3) night.

Hasyim revealed that the Prabowo-Gibran pair won 96,214,691 votes. Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair received 40,971,906 votes, while the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md pair got 27,040,878 votes.

The total valid ballots, according to him, amounted to 164,227,475 votes.
