Disdamkar Puts Out Fire At SMA Negeri 9 Samarinda Building

Samarinda Fire Department (Disdamkar) together with local volunteers managed to extinguish a fire that hit the library room and a building at SMA Negeri 9 Samarinda.

"This fire caused damage to the building of the school facilities but there were no casualties," said Head of the Samarinda City Fire Department Hendra AH as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 21.

The fire that occurred at around 18.40 WITA was successfully extinguished within 50 minutes.

The location of the incident is on Jalan Giri Rejo, RT 24, Lempake Village, North Samarinda District.

The fire, which is thought to have originated from an electrical short, had no impact on the school residents and no casualties were reported. However, a volunteer suffered minor injuries during the blackout process.

"The cause is definitely still under investigation," he said.

Previously, the Samarinda City Disdamkar together with local volunteers also managed to extinguish a fire at the SMPN 5 Samarinda building which resulted in damage to two teachers' official housing units and 20 classrooms, Tuesday, March 19.

The cause is thought to be the same, namely a short circuit in the second floor of one of the houses. Three people were reported to have experienced shortness of breath due to the incident.
