Goodyear Will Present Electric Car Special Tires In Central Indonesia This Year, What's The Difference?

JAKARTA - Goodyear Indonesia continues to innovate, especially by entering the environmentally friendly vehicle segment, with plans to launch special tires for electric cars in Indonesia. This was stated directly by the President Director of Goodyear Indonesia, Iman Santoso, who stated that the special tires for electric cars are planned to be launched in mid-2024.

"We plan to introduce special tires for electric cars in the next few months," said Iman to the media crew some time ago.

Iman explained that the product has become a genuine device (OEM) for several Tesla models in the global market. In Indonesia, electric cars such as VinFast have used Goodyear tires.

"Some other electric cars will also use Goodyear tires in the future, possibly to be introduced at GIIAS events, and some others have also used our products," he explained.

On the same occasion, he also explained the difference between tires for conventional cars and electric cars. According to him, in terms of construction, components, and technology, the two types of tires are different because electric cars have heavier weight.

"Bans must be able to withstand a larger burden than ordinary cars, and electric cars do not produce sound, so tires become the only source of sound, which means tires must work in silence," he added.

Tires for electric cars must also be aerodynamic and have low scroll barriers. In addition, electric cars have a large torque, so tires must be designed for optimal durability.

"Of course, special tires for electric cars will have a higher price," he concluded.
