It Turns Out That This Is The Reason Toyota Is Still Importing Double Cabin From Thailand

JAKARTA - The double cabin pickup car model or double cabin is indeed not quite much in Indonesia, even a number of these types are still imported from Thailand. This matter was once revealed by the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. In fact, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita asked the principals to allocate the model in the country.

Responding to this, Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) as one of the providers of double cabin vehicles in Indonesia spoke up, through the Marketing Director of PT TAM Anton Jimmi Suwandy.

"Indonesia markets are strong in 3-row seats, that's why we are strong in Calya, Avanza, Innova, if you look at any country in ASEAN, Indonesia is the center, but if the central pickup is in Thailand, then if indeed Indonesia wants to produce a pickup, the pickup market must be enlarged," he told the media crew some time ago.

He further said that currently, like the Hilux pickup, the largest production in Thailand, and around the world there are two countries, namely Thailand and America.

"About more than 50 percent of Thailand's market, nearly 400 thousand units are Hilux," he added.

He revealed that Toyota in Indonesia is ready if the government wants to allocate a double cabin pickup vehicle in the country but he said he needed to look back at the segment in Indonesia.

"I agree that we want local production, but we must also be realistic that Indonesia is a country that has a lot of 3-row seat enthusiasts," he concluded.
