The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Predicted That Social Assistance Floods Will Happen During The 2024 Presidential Election
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the flood of social assistance (bansos) in the 2024 presidential election had been predicted. It is hoped that incidents like this will not occur again during the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada).
This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata during the National Coordination Meeting for the Prevention of Regional Corruption and the Launch of the MCP in 2024, Wednesday, March 20. He said that the provision of social assistance was liked by the community but also affected support.
"We didn't criticize what was held yesterday, right, before the presidential election, the social assistance flood and the community were very happy. We already thought it would happen," Alexander said in his remarks at an event held at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
Alexander said that social assistance affects support, not just statements. He said, the KPK has conducted a survey and the result is that there is a tendency for people to choose certain candidates because of the money factor.
Not only that, Alexander also sees a real example from those closest to him. That (money, ed) is the first consideration to determine candidates," he said.
"I heard that from people who worked at my house and neighbors yesterday, they got envelopes of up to five, some said four, what six. In total, more than Rp. 1 million, ladies and gentlemen, for one person. "Then who did you choose?," said Alexander recounting his experience.
This condition, called Alexander, should be a concern. In fact, if you need social assistance, it should not be given before the democratic party in the regions
"There should be no distribution of social assistance before the regional elections," he said.

Secretariats in the regions or policy makers are asked by the KPK to make regulations. Thus, social assistance cannot be submitted before the election is held.
"I hope there is a regional regulation or, yes, I really hope that there will be a regional regulation or whatever that prohibits the distribution of social assistance two months or three months before the election. Try to try, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Secretary General, Mr. Inspector, "he concluded.
