Not Wanting To Have The Same Fate As Modric Wounds, Toni Kroos Warns Ancelotti
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos warned coach Carlo Ancelotti. He did not want to have the same fate as his frustrated colleague Luka Modic because he did not have the opportunity to play in Madrid's first team.
Kroos, one of two senior players in Madrid other than Modric, is likely to be maintained until 2025. Negotiations on contract extensions for another year are still under discussion.
But Kroos has warned Ancelotti. He didn't want to end his career by just sitting on the bench throughout the season.
However, Kroos, who rejoined the German national team, also did not plan to leave Madrid.
"What is clear is that there is no problem (with Real Madrid). We are still finalizing negotiations. We'll see if the conversation changes again or is still the same. I also play a role in making decisions," said Kroos.
"My relationship with the club is also very good. There is no problem whatsoever. Neither the club nor I am in a hurry. Everyone remains calm and relaxed," he said again.
Kroos, who led Madrid to four Champions League wins, further said, "Everything is fine. This is because we are going through the season well. I'm sure we will find a satisfactory solution for both parties." Although the new contract negotiations run without a hitch, Kroos doesn't want to have the same fate as Modric.
The Croatian national team captain received assurances from Ancelotti that he would still get a place in the first team even though he would be a substitute more often. This guarantee made Modric turn down an offer from the Saudi Arabian club.
But Ancelotti ultimately blocked Modric and rarely played this veteran midfielder. In the aftermath Modric looked frustrated. He also obeyed Ancelotti's instructions.
When the player sitting on the bench has to undergo a warm-up, whether it will be played later or not, Modric just chooses to sit back and forth. Ancelotti did not dare to ask Modric to help warm up.

Kroos himself asked for certainty from Ancelotti. Is he still part of Ancelotti's team draft or only warms up the bench without ever playing him.
However, the situation could change when Madrid arrived Kylian Mbappe. If Mbappe occupies Jude Bellingham's position which makes the England international shift by playing more backwards, then Kroos will just sit on the bench.
The reason is, Kroos will be Bellingham's reserve. If that's the case, Kroos could change his mind by leaving Madrid.
