Manager Of The Maritime Museum Extends Closing Of Kelor Island
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit has again extended the closure of community visits to Kelor Island in Thousand Islands Regency because the dock is still in the repair stage."It is true that there is an extension of the closure because there is maintenance in the new dock area," said Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Jakarta Sharia Museum Mis'ari in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, March 19.He said the maintenance was hampered by bad weather that had occurred two weeks ago."We are following the 'progress' of work being escorted by the Water Resources Service," he said.The extension of access closure to Kelor Island will be carried out until March 24, 2024. According to him, as an institution that manages cultural heritage buildings, the Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit provides the best security and comfort facilities for the community by prioritizing building maintenance.Even though access to Kelor Island is closed, the Jakarta Maritime Museum still opens access to community visits to Onrust Island and Cipir IslandHe said the reopening of access to the Kelor Island would be widely announced to the public if the repair work had been completed. "We will announce it," he said.
Previously, the Maritime Museum Management Unit closed access to Kelor Island until February 14, 2024. The extension was carried out after the closure which had been carried out since January 31, 2024 for repairs to the pier and security facilities on the island.
