Ministry Of PUPR: South Japek II Toll Road Will Function At The 2024 Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways revealed that the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II South Toll Road will be functionalized at the 2024 Eid homecoming.

"We will use this toll road (during the Eid homecoming flow) based on discretion from the Police, namely the one-way functional from Bandung, Purwakarta, Sadang and exiting Kutanegera. Then from Kutanegara using provincial roads, so that they can leave for East Karawang and even West Karawang," said Director of Highways Free Barrier Triono Junoasmono or called Yongki in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 19.

Yongki added that the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road is an alternative toll road, considering that the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road is already very congested, so people can choose alternative roads.

"If from Jakarta can pass Jatiasih directly towards Purwakarta, without passing through Cikunir with traffic, it always gets stuck," he said.

The South Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Toll Road to the Sadang to Kutanegara sections, Karawang Regency, West Java, along 8.5 km will be opened functionally during the 2024 Eid Homecoming period.

The section is part of Package 3 of the South Japek II Toll Road, namely Sukabungah Sadang.

The construction of the South Japek II Toll Road with a length of 62 km is divided into 3 packages. Package 1 is the Jatiasih Section with a Setu section of 7.25 km. Package 2 of Setu'Taman Mekar section along 23.50 km is divided into Package 2A of Setu'Sukaragam section with a length of 10.50 km, and Package 2B of Sukaragam's Sukakabungah section along 13 km.

"Furthermore, Package 3 of the 31.25 km Sukabungh segment is currently 31.25 km long, the construction progress has reached 86.08 percent and is targeted to be completed in the third quarter of 2024," said Yongki.

The South Jakarta Cikampek (Japek) II Toll Road has an important role in connecting areas in West Java. This toll road has the potential to attract other investment interests in West Java that can increase community economic growth and develop industrial areas, as well as tourism, as well as open up many jobs.

Overall, the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road can cut travel times and there will be 7 toll gates (GT), namely GT Jati Asih, GT Bantar Gebang, GT Setu, GT Sukaragam, GT Taman Mekar, GT Kutanegara, and GT Sadang.
