Minister Of Home Affairs Reminds Airlines And PO Buses Not To Increase Lebaran Homecoming Tariffs

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian revealed various strategies to reduce the inflation rate ahead of Eid al-Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr 2024.

One of these strategies is to keep transportation service prices stable.

"Therefore, cooperation is needed from airlines and land and sea transportation service providers so as not to increase service prices," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 18.

According to him, this condition is important even though people's mobility increases during the Lebaran homecoming. The high price increase in transportation services can trigger inflation.

"We must really navigate this with all central and regional stakeholders, really being able to control their respective regions and the center also carry out appropriate interventions in areas that really need to be encouraged or supported," he said.

In addition to the transportation sector, the Minister of Home Affairs reminded the importance of handling food price fluctuations by local governments during Eid due to high demand for various commodities during holidays.

In order to reduce price increases, Tito instructed local governments to ensure the availability of food supplies in their respective areas is adequate.

In addition, Tito also emphasized the importance of local governments taking advantage of the low-cost food movement program initiated by the National Food Agency (Bapanas). The program is expected to be well supported by the local government.

"There is support from the center to carry out a low-cost market movement that must be captured, supported by each region and region as well as making the same movement that the Food Agency has not touched because it is limited," explained Tito.
