Preparation For Lebaran 2024 Homecoming, Minister Of Transportation Asks Tourism Buses To Do Ramp Check

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi emphasized that the main priority in the 2024 Eid transportation is safety issues. Therefore, inspection or inspection of vehicle safety (ramp check) is very important.

Budi said apart from the Ministry of Transportation, the Police will also hold a ramp check on land routes. He also reminded the tourism bus to ramp check.

"I ask all levels of the Ministry of Transportation, Kakorlantas, Kapolda and all Police Chiefs to ramp check. Not only for vehicles that operate regularly, but also for tourism buses, do not escape the ramp check," Budi said in a virtual press conference, Sunday, March 17.

In line with that, Budi also appealed to the public not to use motorbikes for long-distance homecoming trips. The reason is, the risk of motorcycle accidents for long distances is very high.

"People can take advantage of the free homecoming program organized by the Ministry of Transportation, the Police, BUMN or private companies on land routes, trains and seas," he said.

Budi also said that he would continue to intensify coordination with all stakeholders ahead of Eid 2024 transportation. This intensive coordination is carried out to anticipate the estimated spike in community movement during the Lebaran period which has the potential to reach 193.6 million people.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that there were three congestion points for the Lebaran 2024 homecoming route. Among them are the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road, Merak Port to Ketapang Port.

"We do observe or map the possibility of traffic jams in three places. First in Cipali, because there are several sections that are shrinking. Then in Merak there will be queues and another in Ketapang," he said in a virtual press conference, Sunday, March 17.

Budi said that his party had also determined the potential for density in the sea lanes. Among them are in the areas of Medan, Batam, Samarinda and South Sulawesi.

"And in the air usually those who have to concentrate on Soetta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport) and in Bali (I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport)," he said.
