Snatching Ojol Passengers At Monas Arrested, Rubbing At Polsek

JAKARTA - Two robbers were arrested by members of the Gambir Metro Police while in action on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Gambir Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

Currently, the two perpetrators with the initials KRN and ARS residents of Gang Tongkang, Senen, are already languishing in the Gambir Metro Police detention cell, Sunday, March 17.

Gambir Metro Police Chief, Kompol Jamalinus Nababan said the robbery incident took place on Saturday, March 16. The robbery took place around the southeast door of Monas, Central Jakarta.

"The two perpetrators of KRN and ARS were caught snatching a cellphone belonging to the victim, a woman with the initials PIR, a resident of East Java," Kompol Jamalinus told VOI, Sunday, March 17.

From the victim's statement to the police, the incident began when he was ordering an online motorcycle taxi on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Gambir Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

"Suddenly, the victim's cellphone that was used to order the ojol was taken by the perpetrator using a motorbike," he said.

After getting his target item, the perpetrator immediately fled, because at that time the victim screamed. Then there were several online motorcycle taxi drivers who chased the perpetrator.

The dramatic action finally made the two perpetrators panic and not focus on riding a motorbike. The perpetrator finally fell from the motorbike he was driving and finally the perpetrator was secured by several residents and officers. The perpetrator and the evidence were then taken to the Gambir Metro Police.

"The items that have been secured are a motorbike with the number B 5722 UFA and a Samsung A23 brand cellphone. Until now, we are conducting an examination of the two perpetrators," he said.

The two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of theft.
