SAR Team Searches For Farmers In Alor Who Disappeared In The Siboil River Flood

The Joint SAR team is searching for a farmer named Ledrik Asamau (68) who was swept away by the flood of the Siboil River in Alor Timur Laut District, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), since Monday, March 11.

"The victim was about to return from the rice fields and cross the Siboil River which was flooded, but until the evening the victim never returned," said Head of Basarnas Maumere Supriyanto Ridwan in an official statement received, Tuesday, March 12.

The victim's family said the victim had been dragged by river floods since 16.00 WITA.

For this incident, he said, the family reported to the village head and immediately contacted the Alor SAR Post to get search assistance for victims around the river.

Ridwan said the joint SAR team would search for victims with the community until 18.00 WITA later.

Based on BMKG forecasts, the NTT region has the potential to experience extreme weather, namely moderate to heavy rain and extreme rain is forecast until March 14, 2024.

This condition can cause hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, flash floods, and landslides.
